UNIC’s exhibition on Natural Fibres at Dilli Haat, a popular arts and crafts bazaar, was inaugurated on 30 December 2009 by Shashi Tharoor, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs. A display of products made of natural fibres, was supported by panels explaining how natural fibres transform lives by providing livelihoods and enable communities to reach MDG targets. 20 weavers and basket makers from different states of India demonstrated their craft and interacted with visitors. A booklet published by UNIC celebrating the Year was distributed.
