At a press
conference in New Delhi hosted by the United Nations Information Centre for
India and Bhutan, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon highlighted gains
from his high-level official meetings in India. In a wide-ranging media
interaction moderated by UNIC Director Kiran Mehra-Kerpelman, the
Secretary-General took questions from national and international media, both
print and electronic, that ranged from the current situation in Syria,
Afghanistan, terrorism, India-Pakistan relations, piracy in the Indian Ocean,
the threat of nuclear weapons and disarmament, India’s future role in
the Security Council, the continuing relevance of the United Nations and
creating a new framework for a sustainable path for the future.
